Let the blogging begin! This is my first week here with reclaiming skinny, and my primary goal is to get everything up and running for September. I will be starting up continuing education courses with Ryerson University (in the lovely Toronto, Ontario, Canada) and re-organizing my life, and want to take advantage of this opportunity to integrate fitness and healthy living into my routine. Not to mention my doctor told me I was overweight. Ouch.

*For the purposes of this blog, I will be using my weight as a way of tracking results, not as a be-all, end-all sort of number.

**Sweat levels (out of 5) will indicate the intensity of the workout/activity/week cumulatively, 0 out of 5 being the lowest possible rating, and 5 out of 5 being the highest.

Week 2: August 31, 2014 to September 6, 2014

Alright, so clearly I am not off to a great start. Monday night (September 1st) I managed to give myself a concussion by cracking my head off my sister’s bunk bed. (Honestly, I wish I had a better version of this story! Something that involved heroics or dragons or sports or something cool like that.) I have been banned from any sort of physical activity so that I don’t fall over and hit my head again while in my dizzy and confused state. I’m also not supposed to spend a lot of time in front of screens for the next week, so I apologize if there is a lack of posts. Curse you, top bunk, curse you!

Week 3: September 7, 2014 to September 13, 2014

Weight: 190.6

% of Body Fat: 30.9%

Activity Level: Nil.

Progress So Far: +0.9lbs

Comments:

Concussion continues. This also means I took comfort in PSLs and pizza. Clearly, concussions lead to poor eating decisions and weight gain and sadness. My head hurts.

No change from last week. I have been paying for cheating on the “no screens because you have a concussion” rule though. Sorry for the lack of posts!

Week 5: September 21, 2014 to September 27, 2014

% of Body Fat: 30.7%

I braved some light yoga but had to stop part way through because I was dizzy and my head hurt.

Progress So Far: N/A

Comments:

Honestly, I am so done with this whole “my head hurts and I feel out of it” thing. At least somehow I ended up going back down in weight.

% of Body Fat: 30.7%

I have been pretty scared to weigh myself this week. This blog has been off to a rough start with the concussion issue, and on a personal level I have been finding it extraordinarily difficult to live in a city 2 hours away from my husband and my home, and I hit a breaking point (read mental breakdown of epic proportions and sobbing). I found solace in pizza, and a bag of chips, and a bag of sour patch kids, and a bottle of wine, and poutine, and PSLs, and cookies and a myriad of other bad weekend binge eating decisions that have left me bloated, weepy and miserable. The silver lining is that the indigestion and uncomfortable bloating caused by all the junk food has not so politely kicked my ass. Nothing is worse than feeling heart broken AND feeling the aftereffects of poor eating choices. I learned a valuable lesson in comfort food: it’s a lie. Now please excuse me while I track down some more Pepto.

Week 7: October 5, 2014 to October 11, 2014

Weight: 188.3

% of Body Fat: 30.4%

Activity Level: Zip.

Progress So Far: -1.4lbs

Comments:

After learning a valuable lesson in indigestion, I managed to really stick to the calories and have dropped some weight! Which I am very excited about because that means I get to fill out my Progress So Far line with a real live number! YES! (Also, please note that although I’m down 1.4lbs from the beginning of this blog, I am technically down 3.5lbs from last week. Which is stellar. And slightly confusing. Let’s chalk it up to some bad bloating last week and move on.)

Week 8: October 12, 2014 to October 18, 2014

Weight: 187.2

% of Body Fat: 30.1%

Activity Level: Zilch.

Progress So Far: -2.5lbs

Comments:

Please excuse me while I victory dance. Not only did I manage to NOT gain weight over Thanksgiving, but I also managed to drop another pound. I am mighty, mighty proud. You’ll notice that I am still being the world’s laziest bum and haven’t taken on any exercise at all (boo me) but clearly calorie counting and green tea sipping has been teariffic enough for me to lose weight a second week in a row!

Week 9: October 19, 2014 to October 25, 2014

Weight: 188.6

% of Body Fat: 30.5%

Activity Level: Nada.

Progress So Far: -1.1lbs

Comments:

I’m pretty ashamed. I was rocking it all last week, and took a sneak weigh-in on Friday night to reveal an astounding 186.5, so I apparently retaliated by eating too much on the weekend and bouncing my weight up. Sigh! Lesson learned though, no sneak peaks! Thinking you have the week in the bag just leads to poor choices. (Although I will admit that the chocolate croissant fresh from the bakery was soo good. And maybe, just maybe worth it.)

  1. So I wasn’t exactly happy about my weight but I was comfortable with the overall number. I really wanted to tone my body so that I had a better distribution of the weight. And then stress happened. I swear, in the last month I’ve gained like 10-15 pounds and I just recently got asked if I was pregnant. :S Help!

    • Oh no! I have certainly been off to a rough start, but I hope that my blog and adventures can help us both lose weight! Stress certainly happens, but exercise can be a great way to blow off some steam. So maybe next stress out moment we can try going for a walk instead of going for the junk food…
